Housing New Zealand National Office Wellington fitout has just been completed. 350 staff from three different buildings have been relocated into four floors in Wellington’s CBD. Names of suburbs throughout New Zealand was applied to the walls and glazing to provide a link for the national office staff to the communities they serve. Spaces for informal meeting and collaborative working were created to improve connectivity between departments and provide a variety of work environments.
CCM recently worked with Hutt Hospital on an innovative scheme to construct a clip-on temporary operating theatre suite while the Hospital built its new theatre complex. This project enabled the client to save cost in rental of external facilities, and provided an asset which could be on-sold at the end of the theatres’ useful life.
We brainstormed a plethora of ideas on amazing feats of nature as a designer and how nature relates to the discipline of architecture. One of the most interesting ideas to emerge was the Social Weaver bird of Africa. In this video Dr Richard Attenborough describes the amazing attributes of the weaver birds.
