The Bowen Integrated Campus project was a very substantial office complex proposed on the site behind Parliament, in and around the Bowen State and Charles Fergusson buildings.
The total area of the building was 65,000m2 gross. These two main existing buildings were to be completely stripped backed to the concrete and subsumed into new buildings, with twice the floor area to enclose a dramatic central atrium.
All the floors in all three buildings were to be interconnected with lightwalls and open stairs connecting the office areas.
The complex was designed to accommodate large government departments with the maximum attention to ESD and modern workplace practice.
