Te Omanga Hospice
Te Omanga Hospice is an established palliative care facility in the centre of Lower Hutt. A decision was made to build a new facility as the old building did not meet earthquake requirements.
The new building of similar size has been built slightly further north in the centre of the site. The existing therapies cottage building was relocated to the western boundary.
Site and building works included the provision of new carparking to the northwest of the site and service road access to the south of the building. Existing established vegetation will be retained where possible around new landscaping.
The new hospice has 8 generously sized bedrooms and ensuite, all supported by associated medical facilities and nursing areas. In addition, the building is the administration centre for the extensive community care staffing and training facilities.
