The building had been brought by a developer with the aim of providing retail on the ground floor and serviced apartments above. This included a structural upgrade which signalled significant disruptive construction within the current showroom. Considering the intrusive nature of the work, and the client looking for more space, it was decided to investigate using the current airless wet basement (subject to tidal flooding) as more show room space and having a refresh for the showroom.
